2020 was quite a year.
9 week Stay at home order for the State of Illinois. My day job was non essential so I was out of work for the whole 9 weeks. Luckily I was able to get unemployment.
So many shows canceled. Many postponed. My calendar was all labeled in post it notes so that I could move events when they were changed.
What did I learn? I learned I have a hard time with a change to my routine. I found a love of gardening and digging in the dirt. I don’t mind hard work, we built a privacy fence and did a lot of outdoor work during the Quarantine.
I tried to do new a few new things during this last year. I made my husband get a caricature done at one of our shows! Way out of my comfort zone! But it turned out super cute!!
I learned I need to have a job to go to to keep up a routine, but I discovered without a doubt that my employer does not value me or any one of the hourly employees. So now to find something worthy of me! Or just open my own shop!!
Creatively, I was published in a magazine. I tried some new designs. I tried a new shop to sell in that didn’t work out. I may try a different shop in the area. But you just cannot beat my # 1 local shop The Kountry Nook. The owner Mary did OUTSTANDING keeping us all in business during the shutdown.
The Number one thing that I took out of 2020 was an appreciation for all that I have. I have an amazing husband, son, sister, parents, extended family, friends that have become family. My house, yard and garden that I could work on during the quarrantine. The ability to be able to help out my parents when needed.
So here’s to 2021 and the hope that this year is better than the last for many people.
