“Alright, I’ve been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade – make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I’m going to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!” Cave Johnson, Portal 2
I know, what does this quote have to do with all of my artsy crafty craziness? Well I will tell you. My Sister gave me the cutest ornament, a simple star that said “You are the Greatest.” She said it was because she is always telling me that I am. I loved it so much ! I was joking around that I was going to wear it on a necklace and when anyone said anything negative to me, I could hold it out and say SHUT UP, I AM THE GREATEST!
So this went on for a while, and when she dropped me off at home. my bag swung forward, and the star dropped out of my bag hitting the curb and breaking. I was crushed. I said maybe I could glue it back together. My sister Jen told me to throw it away, that it wasn’t a big deal. I told her heck no, i could fix it. well I got the star onto the house and promptly dropped it again. Jen told me once again to just throw it away.
So what do I do? When Life gives me lemons, I make life take the lemons back. Not only did I glue the ornament back together, I glittered and sparkled, and crackle painted it! Take those lemons Life! I even added some star nail polish to my star. The extra stars and the crackle glaze helps to hide the cracks, and now I have my ornament back. It may not be perfect, but lets face it, how many things in this life are perfect? We all have a few cracks and imperfections, it’s all how you deal with them.
So when Life hands you a lemon or two, you can make lemonade, or do what I like to do. Turn those lemons into something more beautiful. Remember, when in doubt add more glitter!
